Be prepared for your DOT physical. It is mandatory for all commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers in the US. Don’t get caught off guard! Use this comprehensive checklist to ensure you have everything you need for a smooth and successful exam
What to bring to your DOT Physical Exam:
- Driver’s License
- Current Medical Card (if applicable)
- Eyeglasses, Contacts or Hearing Aids if you wear them
- A List of Medications and Dosage
Are you Diabetic?
- You must bring an A1C reading from your physician, and it must be no older than 90 days.

History of Heart Surgery, Heart Attack, or other Cardiac Condition?
- Don’t miss your routine checkups with your cardiologist
- A clearance letter from your cardiologist is required for most heart conditions
- Most clearance letters require an annual or biennial stress test and an EKG
- You must present a CPAP compliance report of 90 days or greater.

- Avoid Stimulants:
- Refrain from consuming caffeine or energy drinks on the day of your physical as they can elevate blood pressure and heart rate.
- Be Honest and Open:
- Provide accurate information regarding your medical history, medications, and any health concerns to the medical examiner.
- Discuss any recent medical issues or changes in your health since your last physical.
